Beyond the Dawn

 Where Can One Find Peace?

I can't change the world. I can't stop crime, violence, hunger, pain, and all the evil that men do. I can't keep the children safe, nor can I save those who seem determined to keep on the same path they are headed, bent on destroying themselves and others.  My advice is just that...advice! An opinion of one. When all is said and done, I am helpless against all this wickedness in the world. I can do nothing! And this makes me so sad!

So, can someone please tell me HOW to stop hurting for these people? How do I turn my head and go  on with my own life when people are suffering? How can it not affect us and make us depressed beyond words?

There is no human on earth who can make this go away. I can only ask my Heavenly Father to help me each day to find some good in a few things.  I can only pray for strength to go on and pray that He will intervene in the lives of these people...that He will heal them, protect them and care for their needs.

After watching a segment of 60 MINUTES last night, I am asking myself a question, 'Has the whole world gone mad?"  I was horrified by the broadcast. I saw teen-aged boys, beating a poor homeless man with a baseball bat. I heard his tortured cries, and listened to the interview of another man who is in prison now for the beating death of another homeless man. There was no remorse on his face. Just emptiness as he told why he and his friend did this horrible thing. He said it gave him a rush, a feeling of extreme power, to beat someone who was helpless and weaker than himself.  He said his friends and he were in the woods, smoking pot and they came upon a homeless man lying asleep. They began to kick him and hit him with sticks, while he begged them to stop.  They went  away for a few minutes, then came back and beat him some more, then stopped, then came back and beat him again. He said his friend beat the man in the head with a two-by-four with a nail in it. His reason for doing this? Entertainment!

My God! My God!  How can a person who is human do this to anything living, be it man or animal?

According to the newscast, this has become one of the top sports for teenagers. It is called Bum Hunting or Bum Bashing.  One man is making videos of homeless people being beaten and of them beating one another. They pay them in Alcohol. They get them drunk, then have them do horrible things.  It is so sickening. The movies are called 'Bum Fights" and they are selling by the millions. According to police all these attacks on the homeless people have stemmed from the kids watching these videos.

They interviewed the man responsible for making and distributing these movies, and he just grinned about it. Called it entertainment! He has a website and sells the videos from the internet, bumfight.com. I can't understand how people like this are allowed to continue doing this. Why can't he be stopped?  What can I do? What can we do? Once more, I find no answer within my mind.

Evil is out there. Each day it gets harder and harder to love, to trust and to forgive. And almost impossible to continue living,  in a world gone mad.

 Fall on Me

Oh, my aching head! Even my hair hurts! A good sign that Fall has 'fallen' here in the valley and I think it fell on me. I love this time of year, but it kills my sinuses. The temps are mild and the sun is shining and the leaves are just starting to change color. I can't wait till they peak so I can take some photos of the mountanis. I am hoping to get a new camera for my birthday. {hint to Hubby in case he reads this post ) I have seen so many lovely photos posted here on the Stream and if anyone can recommend a good camera to buy, let me know. I have a digital camera now, but it doesn't take good photos. It only has a 2x zoom and I love to do closeups...like bug's eyes and bee stingers and gnats at ten yards away...that kind of zoom. Well, I'm off to the medecine cabinet now. Hope Y'all have a good evening. Love Ya

 NOT ALL HEROES ARE PEOPLE

I recieved this in my email this morning and I wanted to share it with y'all. I did a search on Google and it is, in fact, just a chain letter and not true at all, but it is still a good story...or a good concept for a story. :-)

NOT ALL HEROES ARE PEOPLE ~
 ~ ~
James  Crane worked on the 101st floor of Tower 1 of the World Trade Center. He is blind so he has a golden  retriever named Daisy. After the plane hit 20 stories below, James knew that  he was doomed, so he let Daisy go, out of an act of love.

She darted away into the darkened hallway. Choking on the fumes of the jet fuel and the  smoke James was just waiting to die. About 30 minutes later, Daisy comes  back along with James' boss, who Daisy just happened to pick up on floor  112.

On  her first run of the building, she leads James, James' boss, and about 300  more people out of the doomed building. But she wasn't through yet, she knew  there were others who were trapped. So, highly against James' wishes she ran  back in the building.

On  her second run, she saved 392 lives. Again she went back in. During this  run, the building collapses. James hears about this and falls on his knees  into tears. Against all known odds, Daisy makes it out alive, but this time  she is carried by a firefighter. "She led us right to the people, before she  got injured" the fireman explained.

Her  final run saved another 273 lives. She suffered acute smoke inhalation,  severe burns on all four paws, and a broken leg, but she saved 967 lives.  The next  week, Mayor Guilaini rewards Daisy with the Canine medal of Honor of  New York.  Daisy is the first civilian Canine  to win such an honor.

I  hope you enjoyed this  story.  I thought it was terrific
